Yesterday, I found myself hearing multiple references to the Law of Attraction. From podcasts I heard while driving to movies I was flipping through on Netflix. It seemed to be jumping out at me. Attracting itself to me (pun intended). So I finally caved and watched “The Secret” just so I could understand what so many people had been talking about. I have to say, I was not impressed. It’s not that the message wasn’t good or appropriate, it was. It’s not that I don’t believe it’s possible to do everything that they speak about, I do. It’s just that I feel the motto/tagline/whatever leaves too much open.
After watching the movie, the three main aspects really did stick with me. Ask. Believe. Receive. The three main tenants of the Law of Attraction are solid and effective. …If you fill in the blanks.
Throughout the movie (and other LoA things I have been a part of) they do fill in the blanks for you. These three things are not enough on their own to manifest what you want. You need to work for it too. However, between the scripting and the visual content, that aspect never really sticks. At the end of the seminar, book or whatever, you are left with the three main aspects drilled in and not much else really sticks.
Here’s what I see. In order to apply these practices and make them work you have to do your part and bust your butt while the universe is lining things up. The vast examples of those that “knew the secret” had some other very key aspects alike. They all were diligent, tireless, sometimes manic workers at what they believed in. When they list off people like Churchill, Edison, Plato, Lincoln, etc. you have to remember that these were not casual people. Yes, they were everyday humans like all of us. But, they were driven and the level of belief that they had in their ideas was, at times, crazy. They did not hope for their ideals to come into reality, their ideals *were* their reality. Regardless of opposition or popular belief, these people held to what they saw as the right thing.
That is what makes it work. Being willing to truly invest your entire body, mind and soul into what it is that you want. Getting up off your butt and putting your actions, thoughts and your entire consciousness in line with your intentions is what will set your goal in motion. No matter how much you believe, if you do not act there will be no reward. I have no doubt that each person can manifest everything they need. But, in order to do so, each person must be willing to sacrifice comfort and ease for a time while the Universe puts it in place for them.
I am convinced that we are living in an age of heightened personal manifestation. We do not need to rely on anyone other than ourselves to create the world we want. But, this only happens through each person actually *doing* something. You want money? DO things that generate money. You want health? DO things that promote health. You want love? DO things that make you lovable.
This isn’t rocket science and it sure isn’t a secret. It’s simply the quid pro quo status of the Universe. If you DO something, you will GET something. So by all means, ask for everything you need, believe that it will come to you, but don’t expect to receive it until you have done your part to make it a reality.
